Keyword mapper

Paste in priority order · runs in your browser

Order matters — the tool fills the title from the top of your list down.

What mapping means

A keyword list is not a plan. Every term needs a home, and Amazon indexes a term once — so a word used in the title is wasted if it also appears in the backend field. Mapping is the step where each term is assigned one job.

PlacementWhat goes thereWhy
TitleHighest-volume head termsThe most heavily weighted field, and the one buyers read
BulletsAttribute and use-case termsIndexed, and they carry the conversion argument at the same time
BackendSynonyms, misspellings, terms that read badlyIndexed but invisible, so nothing has to sound natural
Paid onlyCompetitor and brand termsYou cannot index for someone else's brand, but you can bid on it

What the tool does

  1. Deduplicates the list, which usually removes more than people expect.
  2. Separates brand terms, head terms and long-tail terms.
  3. Fills the title to 200 characters from the top of your list.
  4. Allocates the next slice to bullets.
  5. Builds a backend string from words not already in the title, stopping at 250 bytes.

Paste in priority order. The tool cannot know which of your terms matters most — it fills the title from the top down. Sort by volume before you paste, or the output will be arbitrary.

One term, one home

Mapping sounds like admin and behaves like strategy. The moment a keyword has a single place to live — this one in the title, that one in bullet three, the spelling variants in the backend field — you stop writing the same phrase four times and start covering four phrases once each. On a catalogue of any size that is the difference between a handful of indexed terms and a long tail that actually brings traffic.

It matters more when several of your own products are close to each other. Two ASINs chasing the same head term will compete in the same auction, split the click history that would have built one strong listing, and leave you paying for both. The mapper is where that gets caught, because the duplication is obvious in a list and invisible in a live catalogue. Export the backend string, paste it straight in, and keep the map — it is the document you will want the next time the range expands.

Mapping is the step between keyword research and listing optimisation. Once the terms have a home, the listing checker confirms the fields are within limits, and Amazon SEO is the ongoing version of the same work. Prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Questions about this tool

Where do I get the keyword list in the first place?

Amazon's own search suggestions, the terms your ranking competitors are indexed for, your Search Query Performance data in Brand Analytics if you are brand registered, and your search term report from advertising. That last one is the most underused source — it is real Amazon data about your own product.

Why does it strip words from the backend that are in the title?

Because Amazon indexes a term once. Repeating a title word in the backend field consumes bytes without adding any ranking benefit. Removing them frees space for a term you do not currently rank for at all.

Should competitor brand names go in the backend?

No. Using another brand's name in your listing breaches Amazon policy and can get the listing suppressed or the account flagged. Competitor targeting belongs in advertising, where it is permitted.

Is the title output ready to use?

Treat it as a starting point, not final copy. It is optimised for coverage, and a title also has to read like a product rather than a keyword list. A human pass afterwards is always needed.
